In 2020 my husband and I were hijacked by the cartel in Mexico and left in the desert. It took us some time to process but eventually realized it was evil people and not Mexico. We love the country, the people and the culture. We go back multiple times a year. We personally won’t allow that one experience to change our love for that beautiful country and the people.

You couldn’t pay me to go to Cabo or Mexico ever again! My college aged son was sharing a taxi with friends. 2 got dropped off at their resort, his resort was just a few blocks down. Instead, the taxi driver drove the car off the road into a remote area, pulled over, and at gun point asked my son for all of his money. He had $200 on him. Gave it all and the taxi driver LUCKILY drove him back to his resort! My son is sooo very lucky nothing else happened to him! I pray for your husband. That’s awful!😞

A friend of a friend and her husband went to Cabo last month (both late 50’s). He woke up to her expired next to him in bed. It was ruled “natural causes” but now I think this could have happened to her

I LITERALLY was also drugged at the pool bar this weekend riu Baja calicornia!! I blacked out for 4 hours and woke up with no memory! No hangover or any feeling as I would a normal hangover

I’m pretty sure I was drugged at the pool bar last year at the Riu in Cancun. Every time we went to the bar, my best friend and I were alone, so we think the staff assumed we were there by ourselves and didn’t know we were with our husbands. We were taking shots, and after one, we turned around to talk to a tour guide. When we turned back around, the bartender told us we hadn’t taken the shot we ordered. We were confused because we were sure we had, but we were already drunk, so we took another one. We walked toward the beach where our husbands were, and the last thing we remember is walking in the sand. We woke up about 6 hours later with no memory of anything. Our husbands said we were falling down and trying to get us into the water to wake us up. It’s so scary because we BOTH completely blacked out at the exact same time. We don’t know what they intended to do, but the fact that they thought we were alone makes it even more disturbing

We go to Cabo every year. We buy ALL our drinks at Walmart instead of ordering from a bar, and keep them in closed containers. Cheaper and safer.

This is a risk everywhere. It’s not a Cabo thing. If anything, maybe stay higher end. RIU is a crappy chain, compared to most. But again… happens everywhere.

Im sorry it happened. But I do have a question, if I ever say “I would NEVER bring my kids to a school in the USA bc of the shootings, USA is not safe”, would you think my statement is correct? Or would you say the USA is safe it’s only bad ppl who have done that?

I was in Cabo in 2022 with my son. In the middle of the night when we were all asleep, our room flooded, and people broke in, dragging us out by our hair and trying to tie us up. They said we “left the shower on “ and tried to hand us of took the thugs waiting outside in vans. They ONLY would speak in Spanish so we had no clue what was happening but we knew it was bad by the way we were being handled. We happen to have a friend also staying in the resort and I had fallen asleep with my robe on, cell in my pocket, I called them while we were being detained and he translated what he could hear, he said they were taking us away and weren’t coming back. He came down at that point and interfered speaking their language. He was a cop from Canada - had all those little miracles not happened along the way we have literally no idea where we’d be right now. I’ll never go back. Not b/c of the people, I love them, but because of THOSE type & the language barrier. Not knowing what was being said was almost the scariest part. My son was only 19 at the time, I felt so helpless.

That can happen anywhere. My cousin’s girlfriend was drugged at a very popular restaurant/bar in Los Angeles. I’ve been going to Cabo twice a year for the past 5 years and have never felt unsafe.

that happens here in the US too. ex husband can sooo handle his alcohol. when we were in lake tahoe the casino waitress put something in his drink. 1st drink of the night and he was stumbling. never in the 15 yrs that I was with him did he ever stumble while drinking.

I’m convinced my husband and I were drugged in Cancun. We aren’t people who get drunk and wild. We were at the swim up bar had 1 drink. Didn’t finish it. We swam back to our room and both woke up on the floor hours later. I’m only sharing just in case someone says she is lying or being dramatic. There is definitely some wild unexplainable things happening.
