war draft happens, sinon and his family works for antinous and his family. sinon drafts to stay, antinous to go. they switch for antinous cowardice, and odysseus noticed. but in understanding a father’s shame, he plays along and allows antinous to stay (i also theorize ody didn’t want a wimp in the war as well), and plays the lie to the father in which the father is appreciative and says antinous will look after telemachus in thanks. once everyone left for the war and never returned, antinous spun the tale that he was originally drafted to go to war (which is true) but that odysseus asked antinous to stay behind to watch over telemachus and penelope (lie)
