@raynightlife: And you can’t bring your own equipment and gear because “preserve nature”. Can someone calculate how much they make on canoe rentals based on canoes in the lake in this video #banff #lakelouise .
if it was free it would turn into sylvan lake in one season

Hate to say this but it’s a way to protect the ecosystem and preserve it. With how people act these days, destroying and littering and harassing, especially with animals, I’m all for them charging this amount.

These comments are wild💀 Nature is for everyone. Ofc some people will mistreat it but that does NOT justify trying to make money off of something thats a god given right

actually bringing in ur on canoe is dangerous, some people dont wash it from lake to lake and it does transmit different bio organisms or invasive species..that wouldn't touch that water otherwise.. so please keep ur canoes at home :) learned it from a bio major folk

That’s how you preserve it. Let anyone do as they please and the lake will be a cesspool in less than decade

Lake Louise does not charge a fee specifically to swim in the natural lake, but you do have to pay for the required park access, parking, or shuttle transport.

Unfortunately, sometimes protecting a place means making barriers to accessing it. There are plenty of free places to enjoy, but protection is necessary in this form to prevent the ol' tragedy of the commons. This is true about a lot of fragile and unique ecosystems.

Boats can transport invasive species, fish eggs, algae, bacteria, parasites, and even mud from one lake to another. One launch is all it takes sometimes.

You can bring you own canoe and visit for free. This is a Parks Canada property. The rental fees are privately run.

Profit going to preservation of the site and nature, and paying park rangers? HELL YEAH. Profit going to the resort they built on it and using the "preservation of nature" as an excuse? Hell nah.

To those who think this is conservationist..... Privatizing public lands in the name of keeping it clean is not going prevent that land from being destroyed by the same company who profits from its usage.
