“I really despise trends… I think interior design should not be fashion led. I think it should be born out of durability and what’s there and what feels right.” This right here!! Don’t get me wrong, some of the interior design trends I love , and I incorporate them into my home but durability and functionality are the priority. I aim for my home to be aesthetic while also being lived in. Cozy while also being functional. I have kids and pets and we LIVE here. I don’t want to be worried about my home decor so much that we can’t live here.. also, following trends can be exhausting. Trends are always changing.. do what feels right to you in your home.❤️ trends will always come and go. Things in my home that help it feel more durable:— Washable furniture. My entire couch is washable. The back , the sides, the seats, everything. So when my dog or my kids get on the couch I don’t have to stress over it. If it gets dirty I can wash it. I also chose a light tan color because it seems to hold up to our life better than white furniture. -Area rugs with darker shades. All of my rugs have to have brown ish tones and can’t be too light or else they will get dirty way too fast lol… so I try to choose rugs that will hold up well in high traffic and hide dirt. -Another thing that feels more functional in our home is to not over crowd it with decor or furniture. I loveeee to have a decorated home but I keep it simple so that we still can use our coffee table and our island and counters without being cluttered with decor.
