La triste historia de Carlos bacca. #futbolcolombiano #colombia #seleccioncolombia
There was a season of my healing where I secretly hoped someone would notice. Not because I wanted a trophy. Not because I thought I deserved another chance. I had already accepted that some doors close because of your own decisions. I had already accepted that forgiveness can’t be demanded, trust can’t be negotiated and love can’t be guilted back into existence. But if I’m honest there was still a small part of me that hoped the people I had hurt would one day look at me and think He’s different now. I thought that was humility. Looking back it was still me wanting my healing to be seen. Then one day a thought changed everything. The people I hurt don’t exist to validate the man I finally became. They already paid way to fucking much. That realization humbled me in a way nothing else ever has. When someone spends years asking you to listen, communicate, put down your pride and make them feel emotionally safe and you don’t they aren’t responsible for coming back later to confirm you finally figured it out. They already carried the weight of loving someone who couldn’t love them properly. They already cried, already questioned themselves, already wondered if they were asking for too much when they were only asking for what should’ve been there from the start. My healing doesn’t refund what they paid. That’s what we don’t talk about enough. People love redemption stories because they usually end in reconciliation. But life doesn’t always do that. Sometimes redemption doesn’t end in restoration. Sometimes it ends in acceptance. Acceptance that the greatest proof of your growth may never be seen by the people who begged you to grow. And that fucking hurts like hell! Not because I think I’m owed another chance. But because I finally understand what they were trying to tell me. I understand the conversations I dismissed. The exhaustion behind their tears. What it feels like to love someone who keeps promising change but repeating the same pain. I understand why hope turns into self protection. I understand why someone can still love you and choose a life without you. I didn’t understand that when it mattered but I damn sure do now. And I will carry that for the rest of my life not to punish myself but to never forget the cost of unchecked wounds. Forgetting is dangerous but remembering keeps me grounded. It reminds me that emotional safety isn’t something to be praised for it’s the baseline I should’ve had from the beginning. A lot of us doing the work face the same temptation. We don’t want recognition out of ego. We want it because we need to believe the pain meant something. That the man we are now is not the man we were then. But healing taught me something unexpected. The proof isn’t for the people I hurt. It’s for the people I’ll never hurt again. That’s where redemption lives. Not in convincing the past. Not in being noticed. Not in waiting for closure. It actually lives in the quiet moments no one sees. Choosing understanding over defensiveness. Curiosity over control. Becoming someone people feel safe telling the truth to. Someone who leaves people lighter not smaller. I don’t need the people I hurt to tell me they’ve finally forgiven me. Some of them never will. Some of them shouldn’t. Because forgiveness was never the debt they owed me. The debt was always mine. I owe it to every person who trusts me with their heart from this day forward to make sure they never have to heal from me. That’s what accountability looks like. Not asking the people you broke to admire the man you became. Making sure the people who love you now never have to survive the man you used to be. I can’t change who I was. But I have complete control over whether that man ever hurts another soul again. And for the rest of my life He won’t! #real #healing #divorce #men #growth
