Just a quick clarification, it may or may not have been a mistake but that’s okay too if it was. In Islam, we are the children of Adam, not the children of God

Also, just a note, most comments I see on your videos are beautiful and encouraging and though I'm a revert (convert to Islam) us and born Muslims learn everyday. However, You will see comments here and there from even Muslims that may seem ridiculous or rude. Two things I've been taught: Islam is perfect-muslims are not. And there is a difference between CULTURE and RELIGION and a lot of people blur the lines. So if you see any comments that stands out as rude or extreme or unkind, just know that Islam is for ALL, and it's a moderate and balanced religion and way of life and avoids extremist views. And most of the comments that are terrible are usually bots trying to spread propoganda. Ignore them and stay close to the people who are kind and encouraging and friendly.

you stumbled on something really interesting, the Arabic word for human is insaan. this word comes from the word for forgetful, indicating that by our very nature we forget, and that is why Allah reminds us repeatedly

The easiest and best translation in my opinion is The Clear Quran, you can select it on Quran .com , I’d also advise listening to the sound of the Arabic as it’s beautiful

Love what you’re doing! Small clarification, ‘prayer’ (salat)for us is an essential, physical act of prostration that we do 5 times a day. 5 times a day we drop our egos and worldly accolades to humbly remember why we are here. ‘Prayer’ in the Christian understanding is supplication (duaa). Both are essential to a relationship with our creator. This first says to utilize salat (prostration) and sabr (patience, and forbearance)

My fav verse in that is 44 “Do you preach righteousness and fail to practice it yourselves, although you read the Scripture? Do you not understand?” I had to sit with that for a couple of days and let it sink in. Also I’m so invested in your journey i keep refreshing your profile 😭😭

Fun fact, the arabic word for humans, and also the title of a surat, is “insan” (إنسان). It is derived from 2 root words, one being “ans” (أ ن س) which relates to companionship, friendliness, sociability, and seeing or perceiving, and the other being “nasiya” (نسي) which means forgetting. So the word for human being in arabic is literally “social being that forgets”

The word for (human) in Arabic is (insan) which scholars trace its deeper linguistic roots to (Nisyan) = Forgetfulness, it also has another root (Uns) = Sociability

Muslims consider it a direct invitation from God, the fact that you’ve opened the Quran and reading His words. He’s guiding you but this is something you won’t realise until you reflect on this experience in hindsight

You are reading the Qur’an from a position of strength, having spent four decades studying the Gospels and the Old Testament, as you mentioned. The Qur’an is, in many ways, addressed to readers like you. That is why Surah Al-Baqarah begins by engaging the central issues immediately. It does not spend time on lengthy introductions or background narratives. Instead, it speaks directly to Muslims, Christians, and Jews because they already know the covenant, the prophetic tradition, and what it truly means to be a believer. It builds on that shared foundation and calls its readers to reflect on whether they have remained faithful to it. I have genuinely enjoyed listening to your perspective, and I hope that as the Qur’an begins to distinguish its teachings from areas where the traditions differ, we can continue connecting the central theology shared by Judaism, Christianity, and Islam to better understand why the Qur’an makes those claims. Keep going. I am really enjoying the journey.

As for your question, as Muslims, we follow the example of our Prophet regarding patience. His message was so heavily opposed and he went through so many hardships, we draw comfort and reassurance knowing that Allah tests those he loves. Prayer is our reminder to rely only on Allah and know that nothing happens unless He wills it.

Socialist Modernism in Bucharest! Bucharest’s Socialist Modernism (1950s–1989) fused modernist functionality with communist doctrine, producing stark, utilitarian structures meant to serve collective needs. Unlike the ornate neo-classical socialist style seen in the Palace of the Parliament, these buildings embraced raw concrete, repetitive modular designs, and imposing scales—prioritizing efficiency over aesthetics. Key examples include the Drumul Taberei and Militari housing districts, where standardized apartment blocks embodied socialist egalitarianism (and later, urban decay). Another notable structure is the IMGB Factory, showcasing the era’s emphasis on industrial production over ornament. These buildings were designed to reflect the regime’s vision of a homogenized, egalitarian society, though their rigid uniformity often sacrificed livability. Today, these structures divide opinion—some see them as oppressive relics, others as cultural artifacts ripe for adaptive reuse. Their unflinching concrete forms remain a tangible record of an era that reshaped Bucharest’s identity. 📸 Photograph by Dumitru Rusu | Documentation: ©️ BACU Association / 2013-2025 #socmod #socheritage #socmodernism #sovietmodernism #brutalism #archilovers #architecturelovers #architecture #brutalist #modernarchitecture #minimalism #brutalism #brutalistarchitecture #concrete #construction #architecturephotography #modernism #brutgroup #architectural #design #minimal #socialistmodernism #brutalism #concretearchitecture #modernistarchitecture #concretehouse #socmonumentalart #brutgroup
