@bt_inkk: Nobody tells you the lines are the scariest part. Everyone assumes it’s the shading — the black and grey, the transitions, the part that looks hard from the outside. But shading forgives you. Too light, you go back over it. Too dark, you pull the values around it until the mistake turns into a shadow and nobody ever knows it was there. A line doesn’t give you that. One pass. You either laid it right or you laid it wrong, and if you laid it wrong it’s on his forearm at his kid’s graduation. It’s on him at his funeral. Forty years from now the ink will have spread and softened and that line will still be sitting exactly where I put it. So it’s 11pm and I’m running it on fake skin. Same stencil that goes on him Thursday. Same liner, same voltage, same stretch. Only thing missing is somebody who trusted me enough to leave a deposit. I’ll do it three or four more times before he shows up. Not because I don’t know how. Because I want it to be boring by the time it counts — I don’t want to be finding out how this stencil moves while he’s sitting in front of me watching my hands. That’s worth a few late nights.
