Every single one. You paid a premium for avocado oil. You got the same seed oil you were trying to avoid. Pure avocado oil costs $4 to $5 per pound. Seed oils cost $0.50 to $1.50. The price difference is the motive. The fraud is the business model. Lead researcher Selina Wang at UC Davis put it plainly: "If you're buying avocado oil products, it's very likely that you're not getting what you're paying for." This is the third UC Davis study confirming the same thing — 82% adulterated in 2020, 70% in 2023, 89% in 2026. The numbers haven't improved. They've gotten worse. There are no federal standards for avocado oil purity. No testing requirements. No penalties. For comparison, UC Davis tested 20 olive oil products the same way — only 1 showed signs of adulteration.
