THE VIRGIN MOTHER IS BORN The Church celebrates with great joy the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her birth is a cause for rejoicing because it marks the beginning of the fulfillment of God's saving plan. In Mary, God prepared a humble and faithful woman who would one day become the Mother of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Although Sacred Scripture does not recount the details of Mary's birth, the Church has treasured this celebration from ancient times because her coming into the world heralds the dawn of salvation. Born to Saints Joachim and Anne, Mary was chosen by God and filled with grace to cooperate freely in His divine plan. Her life would become a perfect response to God's love, culminating in her joyful "yes" at the Annunciation. The birth of Mary reminds us that God prepares His work patiently and faithfully. Long before the Incarnation, He was already guiding history toward the coming of Christ. Likewise, God continues to work quietly in our lives, preparing us for the mission He entrusts to each of us. Even when His plans unfold gradually, His providence is always at work for our good. Mary's birth also invites us to reflect on the gift of every human life. Each person is created by God with dignity, purpose, and a unique vocation. As Mary welcomed God's call with humility and trust, so too are we invited to respond generously to His will in our daily lives. As we celebrate this joyful feast, let us thank God for the gift of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our loving Mother and model of discipleship. May her example inspire us to grow in faith, obedience, and holiness. Through her maternal intercession, may we always be led to her Son, Jesus Christ, who is the source of our hope, joy, and salvation.
