Lol. Your argument completely falls apart here. Because society imposes countless norms on women in order for them to have a partner and be considered suitable for a relationship or marriage. Women are expected to meet certain beauty standards; to be thin, well-groomed, young, feminine, to have a certain kind of body and face, and to present themselves in a way that is appealing to men, from their hair to their clothes. Their sexuality is constantly policed as well; they are expected to be attractive but not “too sexual,” inexperienced or “pure” enough to be considered respectable, yet sexually desirable and available to their husbands. Women are expected to be quiet, calm, understanding, patient, agreeable, and “not too difficult”; they are expected not to express their anger, demands, or discomfort too openly, not to hurt a man’s ego, to back down during arguments, and to put a man’s career, life, and needs before their own. They are expected to cook, clean, raise children, serve their husbands, and take on all of these responsibilities as if they were simply “natural duties of being a woman.” They are also expected to support the man, stand behind him, “complete” him, and, when necessary, sacrifice their education, career, social life, or personal freedom for him. Women are expected to be faithful, obviously, but they are also often expected to accept a man’s jealousy, possessiveness, and controlling behavior as signs of love. They are expected to get married by a certain age, not “wait too long,” have children, avoid choosing to live alone, and make building a family their natural goal as a “good woman.” And even when a woman does not want any of these things, she is constantly pressured with comments like, “You’re too picky,” “No one will accept you like this,” “Your biological clock is ticking,” “You’ll end up alone,” or “A woman’s purpose is to build a home.” You can choose not to call any of this societal pressure on women. You can even give it different names, like “not being a slut,” “being a good wife,” or “fulfilling your duties as a woman.” But changing the name of something does not make the pressure disappear.
