@_evemmore: as soon as you are a feminist who points out negative things women can do you’re called a women hater but the women who perpetuate these behaviours are just being #girls #feminism #beautystandards #shaving
nobody comments more on my lack of makeup at work than my female regulars

Yes! I think that's also why so many women say "I don't do it for the patriarchy" because they don't always feel the pressure from men, but patriarchy and men are not the same thing.

a lot of women who consider themselves feminists actually love the patriarchy and reinforce it every day sadly

this is me with the hygiene Olympics on here cause a huge part of it is women taking about a vagina's natural biome like its Chernobyl

both. both shamed my body hair, it’s not just the women internalizing it. men have absolute disgusting behavior when they see us unshaved. ESPECIALLY if you dressed up and rock the bodyhair

One of the best tricks the patriarchy has ever played is convincing women that it only exerts itself via a man literally telling you what to do

I went to a all girls school and we were all shaving everywhere from about 12-13 years of age. I hadn't had a conversation with a boy until I was 15

this is so true, when I go out with hairy legs it's judgement from other women that makes me anxious

or when women do it under the premise of "warning" you about what men will say. my entire childhood and teenage years other women and girls would "warn" me that men would mock me and not be interested in me for being flat chested and now i'm 22 and still have never had that happen, but had the insecurity started by women 'warning' me

when I first had armpit hair, two friends at school took me to one side to tell me...like I had a disease and they had to gently break the news to me

my own mom said body hair makes people look like gorillas, including men, but no one was telling my brothers to shave their legs.

i shave because i personally find it unhygienic, and i think so for both women and men. for example my armpit hair, if it’s a summer day and i’ve been sweating then imo there’s a more noticeable scent in comparison to when i’m shaved. deodorant also clumps together etc with hair.

My problem with the discourse about shaving is that most ppl only address shaving body hair but not about shaving facial hair or even how fem presenting women cut the hair on their heads

this is what gets me so frustrated about the shaving discourse. women will start asserting they're being shamed for shaving when in reality they're being asked to interrogate why. you know who IS shamed? those of us who DON'T shave. ive been shamed online and offline, in private and in public, by loved ones and strangers alike. being asked to reflect isn't an attack, being told you adhere to a patriarchal standard isn't an attack - we all do! being called unhygienic, gross and weird is an attack, one i get often for simply not shaving.

this is so true!! i remember being in year 7 (11 years old ☹️) and having girls in the years above me telling me my leg hair was disgusting!! when i was an actual child!! it stayed in my head for YEARS, i've stopped shaving them now because it literally doesnt matter

i agree and i feel like in recent years this has actually been twisted into a “positive” thing. girls saying they don’t do XYZ for men they actually “do it for the girlies 🥰🤪😌”. it’s reframed as somehow feminist and a way for women to bond?
