Watching SVU made me realize I was SAed. Multiple times. That show showed me there are so many ways to be assaulted. It’s so important to give us a voice, to show us we aren’t alone and we aren’t crazy.

I was like what do you mean?... he made me realize my childhood wasnt normal. that the verbal, mental, physical abuse and neglect was not normal. he hated going over there. hes black and im mix he also made me realize my parents are racist. my backside of my family after our wedding were all like did SHE forget SHE slept with a black man? she dated and married him? my husband isnt just a husband. hes a hero

I work with sex offenders and have to read all their case information and the amount of victims is such an enormous amount. the ages range from birth to 99 years old. both male and female victims and most of them were victimized by family members. those that should love and protect them. it is truly appalling.

an ex-boyfriend made me realized that too, it was so hard to admit it and accept it. hopefully, he was there and my therapist helped me dealing with that and putting words on it

Uh same with my ex she told me a story about her past experiences when we were young. It’s so sad, the numbers are way worse than we could imagine. I would say ALL women have been sexually assaulted in one way or another. Coercion wasn’t even considered SA in the past.

I'll never forget the time my husband read one of my college papers about the upbringing of my childhood up to the age I was then. I went to take a shower while he read it. When he was done, he came into the bathroom, opened the curtain, got in the shower fully clothed with his good shoes on. I said your shoes. He said shoes don't matter right now, you do. And he just held me while I cried because for once, someone fully saw me.
