The Lanciano miracle in Italy dates to around the year 750, when a doubting monk witnessed a consecrated host transform into visible flesh. In 1970, a histological examination confirmed human cardiac tissue and type AB blood, a result reviewed and left unrefuted by a World Health Organization commission. The Buenos Aires eucharistic miracle of 1996 produced a second independent tissue sample, later identified by a forensic pathologist as living myocardium with inflamed white blood cells still present. These are not devotional legends. They are the subject of peer-reviewed pathology. Carlo Acutis, the teenage saint canonized in 2025, built a worldwide exhibition cataloguing eucharistic miracle cases from countries across the Catholic world, from parishes in Kenya and Nigeria to communities in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and the United States. His cause for canonization was approved in part because of the depth of his interior life alongside the public fruit of his work. He died at fifteen and is now venerated across Sub-Saharan Africa, the Philippines, South Africa, and beyond as proof that holiness is not a matter of age.
