@itvpolitics: New walk-in support centres will be opened across high streets in England for people needing mental health support, the government has announced. The support centres will be in libraries, banks and other high street locations, as well as in new facilities. People will not need to be referred to access help. Officials also announced that more people in a mental health crisis will be given specialist care in dedicated mental health emergency departments, rather than waiting in busy A&Es. Prime Minister Andy Burnham said that the new centres will be a “lifeline” for the thousands of people who are waiting “months” for help. #politics @ITV News
Arguably I can see the logic in banks. Approaching your bank explain financial difficulties that can be impact mental health struggles could be a way to tackle 2 issues at once. I’m adhd and have impulsive issues regarding money and I arranged a financial health chat with my bank to discuss debt. I was able to look at all my options and find what worked for me

Banks especially will be a place where people feel their worst if they are struggling financially. Having someone there to support people is a good thing

and just like IAPT and CMHT they'll refuse anyone with comorbidities or from marginalised groups as "too complex".
this is just further privatisation while cutting funding for already undercomissioned care

So many towns that don’t have banks anywhere near them or a library. Could use they telephone boxes that store defibrillators now I suppose

Banks are shutting down, people are getting letters from mental health services saying "there are no further options or actions that we can take, we can offer no further assistance" then give a list of organisations that are just as bad ...
