Most of us think we are excellent judges of character and skill. Akala natin, we choose our leaders, mechanics, or experts, etc., based on facts, o yung mga totoong sukat ng competence or expertise. Pero yung totoo, your brain is secretly picking the "budget option" without you noticing. Yung mas madaling gawin, kumbaga. Truth is, we are living in a world full of noise, where actual competence is becoming too expensive to measure. Hence, competence by proxy.
