@jesskbacon: Kevin Feige has said that Marvel fans have built up the build up to Thanos in the Infinity Saga to Avengers Infinity War and Endgame to try and justify why there’s been no build up to Doctor Doom in Avengers Doomsday. But I just don’t believe that’s true🤷‍♀️ Thanos and the Infinity Stones appeared throughout the early phases and we had so many crossovers in the MCU and interconnected storylines before the final big two ends to the first few phases. Drives me insane that they didn't just recast Kang. Like ffs Jonathan had barely been introduced at that point.

So what I’m hearing is, Kevin’s been taking the credit for what was really James Gunn’s skill for years. And now he’s sad that people what that same level of story telling when he has to do the planning solo.

Yap, this ‘just update the old movies’ to now include some Doom stuff is weird. And also… I really wish they hadn’t told us WHO was playing Doctor Doom. Can you imagine the shock if we were to find out at the movies?!

The Infinity Saga is one of the greatest feats in cinematic history… why would he downplay it now just to promote another film 😅🤣 what a waste of

We never needed to be introduced to thanos when he finally appeared in the movies because we’d been given snippets of stories & knowledge into him and the stones for YEARS. He’s spoken about & we get to know his daughters so when he appears we are already scared of him and know him as this big bad villain who is worse than the rest. So we didn’t just build it up in our heads we were spoon fed it for a long time, invested years & money into watching the films, shows & analysing it all. It’s so insulting that he said this

atp they should've just recast Kang. then they didn't have to scramble for a new big bad and just continue what they had built on

The MCU got as big as it did because the fans could see the work the filmmakers put in to building the universe, the interconnections, the little Easter eggs here and there that culminated in Infinity War. It’s now turned into ‘let’s get as much money out of the fans as fast as we can’ skipping the entire reason the fanbase grew to what it was: the dedication the filmmakers gave to the creation of these stories. Apart from the Spider-Man franchise I dropped out of following the marvel storyline because I could see what it was becoming and I didn’t want to support it anymore

It wasn’t just about his appearance though, idk why Feige isn’t getting that… it’s about the fact that the infinity saga built up to those last two films with Thanos ever since Iron Man 1 in 2008, that’s 11 years. The Multiversal Saga started really in 2021 and ends in 2028, 7 years with a significantly larger amount of new characters introduced alongside returning cast members. I enjoyed a lot of the stuff from this saga but it was so lacklustre and was hardly built out, they didn’t give themselves the time they deserved to introduce all of these iconic characters and develop them for their big appearance in the next crossover. Spider-Man BND is proof that waiting until you have the right story is the way to make the best production because they didn’t botch his character or rush the storyline, and they introduced a new character (well New/Old) and still managed to make it seem like we knew her well. Some new MCU characters had full TV Shows and it still felt like we hardly understood their place in the universe by the end. Not to mention the fact that this entire Saga was supposed to build up towards the Kang Dynasty rather tbh an straight into Doom, so it felt like amazing series like Loki were there for nothing really other than the S2 ending tying into Doomsday/Secret wars. Also since I’m already ranting I’ll say that Marvel really botch powerful female characters… ‘killing’ off Wanda as she reaches her true potential felt like they wrote her off because they were scared to have a character that was capable of so much. (Also Kevin’s reaction to the Spider-Man record breaking box office success tells us everything about his current outlook over the new films, he clearly believed that a Marvel film that didn’t nostalgia dump could reach such high popularity)😭

Utter, utter nonsense. He's revising history to downplay the slipshod way this most recent phase has been handled.
