@jimmy_chewws: Stop cooking tofu until you’ve done this… 👇 Freeze it first. It sounds weird, but freezing tofu completely changes the texture. The ice crystals create tiny pockets that turn it into a sponge for marinades, making it chewier, meatier, and packed with flavour. If you think tofu is bland, you just haven’t frozen it yet. 🧊🥢 Save this tip for your next tofu dinner.
Salt boil, freeze, thaw, marinade, air fry. You’re welcome.

I did the freeze, thaw and squeeze, then thinly sliced it and cooked it with just a spray of oil in the airfryer until it totally dried out and looked like a pile of leaf litter 😂 but then, chucked it into the end of a stir fry when adding the sauce; it rehydrated itself with the sauce and had a bit of chew to it. Would recommend

Do you squeeze out the moisture before freezing it?

This is great advice! I personally love to tear apart in chunks instead of cutting it, giving it even more surface for nice textures and crusts

goated use of tofu is to get extra firm and cook it in an air fryer. but instead of cutting it up its crucial to tear it up, you'll see the texture inside from tearing lends to a looot more frying surface area than cutting straight cubes. then coat it in sauce seasoning and oil or pop into a sauce

Or just boil it in salted water for 10 mins, dry and then cook. Also lava tofu made with bicarb is 🎯

I didn’t realise I could freeze it. Could you marinate it and then freeze?

can you leave it more random 24 hours? Just take out of the freezer when you want to use it?

Wait so freeze it, then take out the next day or when you want to use it? And you can squeeze water out after it’s been frozen?

It’s not meant to be eaten. That’s why it tastes like congealed wallpaper paste.
