But I also think it's completely fair for Filipinos to ask questions before celebrating any massive development project. Especially when we're talking about power, water, land, the environment, and long-term commitments. The government has said safeguards will be put in place and that the project will comply with Philippine laws and environmental requirements. That's why I don't think the conversation should simply be: “Pax Silica = good.” or “Pax Silica = bad.” Maybe the better question is: Can we make this work for the Philippines while protecting Filipino communities, resources, and national interests?
