When it’s male dominated, both genders are expected to like it. When it’s women dominated, nobody expects men to like it or cares when they don’t. Women led media is so often disrespected because it’s “okay” not to like it when it’s objectively good, whereas it’s seen as outrageous to dislike objectively good male dominated media.

I really need people to stop saying “he can’t write women”. The statement makes it seem like he doesn’t have the comprehension or talent or critical thinking skills to do so. He does. He can. He’s a multimillionaire who CAN take a writing class if he needed help. He CAN sit down and genuinely give his time and energy to writing balanced and compelling female characters. He CAN write and direct women and give them a stage, a spot light, an arch that isn’t dependent on men. He CAN write women, he just doesn’t WANT to and there is a huge difference.

the way that when a woman directs a film about women it's immediately seen as this annoying woke feminist political piece of media (don't get me wrong, all art is political of course but stay with me here) while when a man writes about men their gender doesn't get mentioned at all as if being a man is the default (and if they write about women it's to seem "woke" which they get praised for)
