I think most just don’t want to put any work into it. I’m sorry but most ppl feel like they don’t want to “ fix or repair “ themselves, but especially men. Women have made a lot of their worlds easier- especially at home while kids were growing up. Mom’s take on the bigger role of raising kids( in most families)& I don’t think most men are bothered by this. They genuinely feel or identify as a breadwinner & provider. Idk. I know it’s not every family, but there is a brokenness & fathers play a huge role in our society of our youth hurting so much also.💔

as a daughter who was estranged from my father for around 10 years, if this is the case, then it's really important that you father's and men understand that when you have access to tools such as therapists & books that are dedicated to helping you, and you're choosing not to use them, your children notice that you made that choice. You can't play victim to your lack of tools any longer because you DO HAVE ACCESS.

So does estranged mean they abandoned them or are they alienated?

my father divorced my mother when I was a baby. our relationship was always distant and struggled. I never truly understood where we were at but a couple years after my wife died I sat down and was like man my dad never even came around after my wife died. ive been estranged for around 5 years now. he has apologized but I refuse to give him the son he wants cuz I never got the father I deserved/ needed. but yeah he wants to be silent cuz he dosent wanna make it worse but I realize he never fought for me any other time in my life why would he start now.

The day my ex cleaned my house out and ran with my children because I found she was still married to someone else... I asked God for guidance. To other fathers — just get up, find your children, just be there, love them, and most of all, pick up your cross. It's going to be rough — push through it. Break the curse. Remember, you are the protector.

Tried to respond every time I go to I can’t the last one I sent. I just asked how she would like the response. Text email, official mail anything really. It’s been like seven weeks and the only thing that I could do was write it down and turn it into music. It’s published now and I’m still afraid to send it to her.

Everything they said is absolutely true. They left out the alienating mom part. That’s 100% a growing factor.

These kinds of conversations need to also acknowledge that the mom is a huge part of the problem and that’s why the dad backs off… children are not born hating a parent. Hate it taught

I agree this is true in many instances. I also am certain that sometimes it’s even more complex than that. I’m specifically thinking of narcissism. Like the real version of narcissism.

I always thought my Dad was mean and didn't love me and my brothers. My oldest brother passed away suddenly. After my Mom and Dad went to bed one night soon after I heard him crying to my Mom that he couldnt go through that again. It was then I realized he really did love us even though he never said it. That changed my whole perspective of him. 🤔

We ALL suffer some prior pain- moms and dads…. Both have a Choice of showing up or not. Pains should create better choices with your own children to show up for them

Wonhundred - we neeed to teach our kids early that life is hard and not fair, we need discipline, we need toughness - conveying on a child's level is different than being their friend - especially for young boys
