The reason Cameroon can look physically dominant but also fade as games progress is that they cover a lot of ground. Their midfielders are comfortable competing physically, pressing, recovering and constantly moving across the pitch. That intensity can eventually take its toll. But we shouldn’t mistake that for a team we can simply write off. I genuinely believe we have enough quality to beat Cameroon comfortably, even by three goals, but the key is how we control the game. We need our most technical players on the pitch — players who can retain possession, dictate the tempo, move Cameroon around and force them to do the running. If we can make them chase the ball rather than chase us, we can eventually exploit the fatigue. They cover ground exceptionally well, but that also means we have to be smart enough to make that running work against them. Cameroon are beatable, but they shouldn’t be underestimated.
