Just a friendly reminder that just because you assume a person’s hair should look a certain way because of the way they look, please educate yourself and understand there are many different ethnicities and hair types that you may not be used to seeing. This identity crisis is the reason why growing up I used to absolutely ruin my hair by just straightening it all the time to “fit in.” I still struggle with wearing my natural curls but I’ve managed to get them to a good stage now where my hair is so much curlier and healthier now, hence why when I do style it, I like to blowdry it to avoid using higher and direct heat. I also like doing heatless curls rather than curling with a curling iron whenever I can and that means, yes my hair will not look super sleek and perfect and that’s okay. I’d rather it be healthy. Because for me personally, the healthier my hair, the crazier it is. It’s more curly, and it hates being blowdried or styled in any other way than its natural form… hence the texture. So whilst for some people, healthier hair means sleeker hair, for me it means curlier, sometimes frizzier hair. Now whilst my hair isn’t the healthiest hair in the world (my job literally revolves around messing with it constantly) it’s definitely come a very very long way and if it was “dead” it wouldn’t curl naturally, and it most certainly wouldn’t slay heatless curls the way it does 🤍 if you feel you can relate, let me know! #heatlesscurls #hairhacks #curlyhair #hairjourney
