If your school district has a dual immersion program I highly recommend you enroll him. Once he starts school and she leaves it’s very easy for him to forget, especially if he stops using it.

PSA- when he starts regular school, he may not want to speak spanish it is very very important that he continues to speak it… otherwise he will forget it! Dual language classes are available at many schools 😌

Me as a nanny in nyc I speak Portuguese with my little one since day one. As his world and parents are in English he got used to it only speak Portuguese with me. Funny fact he has my accent in English!

My son had a Spanish speaking babysitter until he was 5. He played in Spanish. He forgot it almost immediately when he went to kindergarten and didn’t see her anymore. Everyone said it would come back when he took high school Spanish. He’s 18 now, almost failed high school Spanish.

Make sure he keeps practicing that spanish!! I did a spanish immersion preschool & while I still can keep up some, I wish I’d have been forced to keep up with it!
