Hold it right there ! - I just returned to UK after 10 years in US and yes, gross wages are higher in US BUT, Federal+State+Municipal taxes are together higher than in UK (certainly in Massachusetts). Healthcare is free in UK and ~$20k pa in US for capped cover (and if you get fired your uninsured 😱). Everything except cars and gas is 2 or 3 X more expensive in US (including internet, mobile phone, groceries, TV subscriptions, plane tickets, hotels etx etc). Finally in UK you get >£60K pa tax allowance for pension (401K) contributions and when you become 55+ you can withdraw 25% of you total fund tax-free. Finally, everybody gets 25+ days paid vacation plus public holidays in UK. So, sorry bud, unless you’re earning over $500K in US the UK standard of living is higher and stress is way less. Finally, in UK you can hop of a plane for <150 bucks and fly any place in Europe in a few hours. And this summer England has been warm sunny everyday. And, finally, finally UK folks are genuinely kind and friendly and the history and country-side beauty here will blow your socks off. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴❤️❤️❤️

Wrong on so many levels. I think you're also talking about mean not median. comparing dollars to pounds. ignoring the fact that the cost of living is higher there. ignoring the fact that you pay a lot for healthcare. etc. take all those things together then the gap pretty much disappears.
