One of my clients said something yesterday that I hear all the time: “I know I need to get out of this career. But I’m so exhausted by the end of the day that I don’t have the mental energy to figure out what else I want to do.” This is such a frustrating place to be. I’ve been there myself. Your job is draining the life out of you. So all you want to do at night and on weekends is to try to recover. But the thing is, the tug on your soul for something different, something bigger, doesn’t just go away. It gets louder all of the time. So you keep thinking about it. And thinking about it. And thinking about it. And the harder you try to force yourself to come up with an answer, the more overwhelmed and confused you feel. Here’s the thing: To get out of this endless spiral, you need mental energy and space to actually reconnect with what you love. To figure out what you would even want your next era to look like. And I know people don’t necessarily want to hear this, but one of the best things you can do in this situation is meditate. I started meditating nine years ago and did it religiously for the first year. Now I sometimes go a few days—or even a week—without doing it. And every single time, I notice the difference. My thoughts get louder. I start overthinking. It becomes harder to hear my own intuition over all the noise in my head. Meditation helps interrupt that brain swirl. It gives you some space between you and all of the fear, pressure, and urgency you’ve been carrying around. And that space is where the ideas start coming in. So if you know you need a change but feel too exhausted to figure out what comes next, don’t start by forcing yourself to solve your entire career. Start with 10 minutes a day. Download a meditation app. I personally love Headspace. Just give your brain somewhere to go besides around and around the same exhausting loop. Because the first step toward figuring out what your next era will look like requires quieting your mind enough to hear yourself again. 💎✨ Follow me if you’re ready to create your next era without blowing up the life you’ve already built.
