I have done literally thousands of interviews in my career and I would say just the opposite of what you are saying. My questions about prepping for the FD will come later. I tell people to answer that question like this… I want to hear about your past, present and future goals. This includes your hobbies, married? Kids? Etc. and yeas

I struggle with this one cause I start when I went to college and how it led to me wanting to go to the fire service. In which a lot are receptive but after I’m like did I really tell them anything personally about me or did I tell them my life story

Not every fire department asks questions this easy! My interview way way more difficult with multi question in one question. It’s simple have a diverse life background and explain your life experience and tie it into the FD
