@erikrosenstrale: Is this one of the most freeing rights in Sweden? 🇸🇪🏕️ Allemansrätten is one of the first things I ever found out about Sweden. It was definitely a surprise, so in this video there’s no joke… just a little Swedish information that I wish I knew before I came here 😂🤔 #sweden #fyp #sverige #swedish #themoreyouknow

My first year mushroom picking I was so baffled when I asked my partner whose land he was taking me to, and he was like “Oh I don’t know who owns this.” I was like, uhhhhh so should we leave? Are we going to get shot? What do you MEAN we can pick whereEVER we want???? My American brain just could not comprehend.

Not in the garden, but you will have access to the water. Noone is allowed to set up a tent everywhere, but almost.

There are limitations. Mostly commonsense. You are not allowed to go into someone's garden. That can depend on access to a body of water. Generally speaking, you don't do anything that could be viewed from a house, should be out of sight. It's a good system. The people who are interested in nature usually respect the rules 🙂

In finland, there is something very similar called everyones rights. They include being allowed to pick mushrooms and berries, camping and other things

You're not allowed to go in someone's private garden though. Allemansrätten doesn't cover that.

Yes. But like all rights, it comes with responsibility. You can walk through forests, pick berries and mushrooms, swim in lakes and rivers. But you have to respect wildlife. Don't touch bird's nest or eggs, destroy anthills, or leave trash behind.

Yes, hemfridszon regulates how close to a house you can go. If you're by the window you are definitely too close. By setting up a fence is a good method to mark the zone. However, if you set up the fence outside the zone you can be required to install a gate, as you are not allowed to block passage. But we definitely need to respect that people have a right to privacy in their own homes, so keep a distance to people's homes. Theres no set rule for how big the zone is, so mutual respect is key.
