This is how bad characters should be and not a hero. Dark timeline fits rudues more than the main timeline. A villain is a villain, they do evil things and don't pretend like they're good. The main timeline is the reality, most evil people hide behind a facade of being good. That's why people of that label won't be noticed and take jobs near children. They find ways to get close to children by gaining trust of the adults around them.
