From the very beginning, Scripture warns us that truth can be quoted correctly and still be applied falsely, which is exactly what Satan does when he tempts Jesus by quoting Psalm 91:11–12 but deliberately removes the phrase “to guard You in all Your ways,” stripping the promise from its condition of obedient, God-chosen paths and turning trust into presumption (Psalm 91:11; Matthew 4:6). Jesus exposes the deception by refusing to test God, showing that God’s promises never excuse self-will. In the same way, many Christians today repeat the same error with John 3:16–17, eagerly proclaiming that Jesus came to save the world while quietly discarding the responsibility that follows, “not to condemn the world,” appointing themselves judges in direct contradiction to Christ’s stated mission (John 3:16–17; John 12:47). Just as Satan removed obedience from protection, believers remove mercy from salvation, quoting Scripture while denying its restraint. But God does not contradict Himself, and Jesus does not delegate condemnation to His followers in this age; conviction belongs to the Spirit, judgment belongs to Christ, and reconciliation belongs to the Church (Luke 13:1–5; 2 Corinthians 5:19). When Scripture is separated from its moral responsibility, it becomes a weapon instead of a witness, repeating the wilderness temptation in religious language and misrepresenting the very character of God that Christ came to reveal. For all everyone judging the fact he said adopted, they are advocates for adoption due to having issues with infertility and a miscarriage. I’m sure he is just proud and feels blessed to have been able to have kids in anyway.
