I just wanna say how much I appreciate your videos and insights, and how kindly you approach all of these topics. I recently came to my trauma realization at the not so young age of 35 just last month. The last four weeks have been… a lot. My nervous system is fried. But your videos have been helpful. Thank you. 🫶

Can you talk about disorganized attachment and emotional neglect?

Do you have any advice, information, or experience with anxious hypervigilance misreads, and then that anxious person trying to force that misread onto their partner (despite their explanation correcting the misread). (Ex: AP: “why are you refusing to give me affection?! It’s so easy to just do it.” Partner: “what? I’m hugging you right now - this is me giving you affection.” AP: “but you’re refusing to squeeze!” Partner: (squeezes) AP: “you’re only doing it because I told you to!”)

And just like that, an entire new layer of my isolation has been revealed. No one's been able to put it as succinctly as you just did. It does feel all on me. I have been generally dysregulated and burnt out for years leaving me with barely enough capacity to survive. So since connection is all on me, I have zero capacity for connection of any kind. So I isolate. 😔

I’m very bonded with other people but no one is really bonded with me really hit on something for me idk how to describe. When I start to feel attached to someone it makes me feel awful because I just feel like I’m connected and attached to them all of a sudden, but they don’t care about me and if anything find the attachment annoying and too much, and so now the attachment is a trigger for a waiting period until they leave me

What is it when you’ve gone from anxious attachment to complete detachment from seeking any kind of connection at all? Largely alone, outside of work, for years, and utterly unconcerned about it?

question: my mom really wants to repair the damage she did during my childhood. Is there anything SHE can do at this point (I'm 51!), or at this point, is it just internal work for me to do?

I can't believe how spot on your videos are with my experience. They make me feel less alone and less crazy ❤️My dad was loving but autistic so he could never connect to me emotionally and never had an interest in my inner life. But he said he loved me. My mom was emotionally unstable and very authoritarian in her parenting.

From what I understand, sometimes this can be enforced with the environment like in the case of divorce and losing regular access to a care taker or because one caretaker is sick ect..

I’m pretty sure this didn’t come from childhood for me. I don’t remember feeling this way as a kid and I didn’t struggle with this in relationships until adulthood, specifically after a very bad relationship. I do think there was *something* in childhood possibly that allowed me to think it was okay to stay in that relationship but I had good relationships as a young adult before that one where I wasn’t anxious like this. Now I can be an anxious mess sometimes. The “I’m bonded, but they aren’t bonded” hits so much for me bc that’s how I feel. I always feel like I have an intense bond, attachment, and care and they don’t at all. This is specific and ONLY shows up for me in romantic relationships, though. Not with family or in friendship.
