@gogowildhoney: At the airport, some Thais mocked Chinese people by pulling their eyes slant with their fingers. But here’s the bigger picture: education in Thailand is seriously lacking. Some Thais frequently tease Chinese people without even realizing that a huge portion of Thais are actually ethnic Chinese themselves. Another group calls themselves Isan – and most of them are ethnically Lao, speaking the Lao language. The rest are Burmese, Cambodian, and other ethnicities.
