They had to film in Glasgow because it’s incredibly hard to film in New York. You can’t shut down streets and leaks would be abundant.

Well to be fair, actually shooting in New York City is EXPENSIVE AS HELL. plus its super difficult with how much movement is within it. the Friday the 13th movie Jason Takes Manhattan also was only able to shoot in NYC for 2 days, they did the rest of it in Vancouver.

As someone from LA, it's the exact opposite here. The films that take place here ARE actually shot here. I saw my old apartment building in the show La Brea and The Rookie was filming in front of city hall when I was trying to find parking downtown one random day.
