Tosanwumi Edukugho, of Sea View Terrace, Plymouth, faced Plymouth Crown Court following a police investigation into an attack on 14 June 2020. The court heard Edukugho gave MDMA to the victim before carrying out an opportunistic rape in his bedroom while she was out of it. Edukugho denied the rape, but a crown court jury rejected his account and found him guilty. A taxi driver who picked up the victim noted she was in an almost catatonic state following the incident. On 17 November 2022, Judge Peter Johnson jailed Edukugho for nine years.
