yes i’m aware there is probably a million edits of them to this song but i was listening to it last night and i wrote basically a whole page of analysis for how they relate to a singular line of it so here: “you think that you create the waves, but i create you” perfectly captures the difference between how shauna and lottie understand what’s happening to them. shauna believes she’s the one creating the waves, like every act of violence, every choice, every outburst begins and ends with her. she sees herself as the source of the storm, convinced that everything she does is an extension of her own will. but lottie never really sees shauna as the creator. she sees her as someone who’s already being shaped by something far bigger than herself - whether that’s the wildrness, fate, grief, or just the parts of shauna she’s spent her whole life trying to suppress. lottie understands that violence isn’t what creates shauna, it’s what reveals her. the waves don’t begin with shauna but actually expose the current that’s been carrying her all along. that’s why lottie never fears the parts of shauna that everyone else does. it’s because she sees them as something inevitable, almost sacred, because they’re proof shauna is becoming the person she wants always meant to be. shauna thinks she’s creating the tide, but lottie knows she’s already been swallowed by it. anyways if u read this far this song is really fuckable isn’t it x style ib and for @katie #yellowjackets #shaunashipman #foryoupage #lottiematthews #shaunashipmanedit - @pushfoglake
