You’re very much looking at events of the show from a viewers perspective rather than through the eyes of the characters themselves. You questioning why Locke wouldn’t bring up the hatch or the fact he couldn’t walk before the island is a prime example. His reason for not bringing up his inability to walk is driven by multiple psychological factors. One being his desire to leave the old John Locke behind, and create this new identity on the island for himself. Admitting he was previously paralyzed would shatter the persona he was attempting to create. He also is a so-called man of faith, which leads to the second reason, that telling the others invites their skepticism. If he told the others and they tried to explain it away rationally, like Jack for example 100% would try to do, it would, in his mind, dilute the magic and the miraculous nature of what happened to him. Both of these reasons are why he didn’t say anything about it except to Boone, the first time his legs began to give out on him again. The hatch is an even easier answer, my man has a clear obsession with knowledge and killing sense of curiosity, epistemophilia at its finest. This would also be why a lot of other characters don’t communicate things with one another in this show, largely for psychological purposes. If you find the characters unlikable then that’s preference but that’s certainly an interesting take as it’s pretty much the exact opposite of how most people feel with the exception of a select few. Like I’m sorry but I genuinely cannot fathom how you bring up Hurley as one of the better characters at the point you’re at. He’s likable, sure, but he’s genuinely got almost nothing to his character beyond the backstory with the numbers and the bare minimum amount of set up for his future arc. Also, again it’s subjective, but majority of people think it has some of the best overall performances in tv, so idk, I don’t really see how you came to the conclusion the acting isn’t that great tbh.
