@linahreads__: I am not saying Nesta’s actions are acceptable. Personally if I didn’t have a Cassian or two reaching their hands to me at one point, I may not be with you today. Writing this. She isn’t fully redeemed. She is a work in progress. As is many of us. And I believe if she was a male character most of her actions would have been less judged and glossed over as “morally grey” behavior. Watching Sarah J Maas’s Interview and seeing how she wrote Nesta from her own experience and depression had been liberating. It felt like being seen. —————— 🔑 Keywords: Nesta. Nesta Archeron. From book one, I loved Nesta. I only got thru the series because I found out SF was from her perspective. I related to Nesta in ways I've never related to another character ❤️

nestas book is not meant to redeem her, but to humanize her. she has been through so much trauma, and although it doesn't excuse her behavior, it does explain it

People don’t realize this is a reality for a lot of people. And are also missing the point of this video. The fox is caught in a “snare” and is reactive and vicious. “If you stay in that snare, you’ll die.” You can choose to live in the anger and hate, or you can free yourself and be better for it. That’s literally Nesta’s story.

Most people who don’t like Nesta have been hurt by a Nesta in their own lives. I’ve personally fought every single day in my life to never end up like Nesta. (Book 1,2&3 Nesta)

Nesta is a BITCHHHHHH for 90% of the series THAT is the point. Her book isn't about realizing how she's always been good it's about her CHANGING and becoming BETTER for the people she LOVES and especially for HERSELF

People are forever acting like we don't understand. We do understand. We just still don't like her.

These comments are just proving to me my original thought when I read Silver Flames… it takes being a Nesta to be able to love a Nesta 🧡

The nesta hate is more proof that people will find any excuse to hate a woman

Nesta isn't your school bully, or the rude colleague. The reaction some have to her scenes, compared to the father being there, or the atrocities other characters commit, needs to be studied.

I can't stand Nesta OR Elaine. The fuck you mean she's growing flowers instead of FOOD?? All 3 are so problematic but I guess that's the most realistic thing about them

I swear people make it seem like she enjoyed being the way she was.She was groomed into being that way and hated her self for it,I’m not saying her actions were okay but you could only call someone evil or a bad person if they actually find comfort in hurting people.Nesta literally hated the way she acted sometimes but couldn’t help it,she literally wanted to be anywhere but her own head. And when she was finally able to move past everything and heal now there’s people saying she didn’t deserve a redemption arc??like that’s just crazy.

I feel like so many people hate on Nesta but forget all the good she did. That's right, GOOD. Multiple lives were saved by her. Even your favorite characters. Did it justify her anger, no. But once you understand she hated herself more than anyone else could hate her, maybe it will make sense. And if it doesn't make sense, then I am happy you will never understand what it feels like to have that type of anger inside you.

As someone that battled depression, it doesn’t excuse your actions, but still, try to be understanding. Silver Flames wasn’t written to defend Nesta, but to explain her. Books 1 - 3 shows how the world views Nesta, book 5 shows how Nesta views the world and why.

I relate to nesta so much. Ive never taken my anger out on people but ive felt the anger internally. being angry at everything and then i found my person who helped me through my pain and trauma. I wish people wouldn't judge her

no one forced her to be a horrible person. 🙄 defense mechanism or not people are allowed to hate her. lots of characters had worse lives than her and didnt become half as horrible

Beautifully said! Sometimes I wonder if people who hate Nesta just haven't had the opportunity to reflect on their own actions in their lifetime yet. We've all said or done something we aren't proud of at one time or another in our lives. But you know, it doesn't make us terrible people. None of us are perfect. But as long as we're trying to be better, that's what truly matters. It's all our first time living. We're not always going to get it right, and that's OK. That's the beauty in learning and lessons. The entire context of why Nesta acts the way she does is very seldom considered. It's not an excuse, but it is a reason, and she is going through character growth and development. ❤️I love this book, by the way. The boy, the mole, the fox, and the horse.

I have a Nesta as a sister. It’s… exhausting. We lived through the same trauma and came out of it so differently. I love her but I won’t deny she’s an incredibly complex and difficult person

I’m going through a really, really rough mental patch. So I put on the audiobook and literally told myself “if Nesta can climb the mountain, so can I.”
