Taxes are an amazing thing. People should pay more of it. The problem is not the taxes, but the policy of people who are in charge of using these taxes. Stop putting right wings people in charge, add some solid guardrails and get involved in politic and unions, it's the only way we can fix the insane world we live in.

There are countries that give everyone a rapport on where your taxes have been used and then you can easier react on government spending. How much of % of your taxes went to funding war for example.

not a terrible concept partially. like if things each had auto minimum funding then you pick where it goes and once it maxes out you need to fill the other up first before over funding any given dept

There should be like a "okay this is the minimum we need for each area so they are at least somewhat operational. Now for that we need X% of your taxes. The rest of the percent you can push into areas you personally want to be better funded. For example you could put a bit into education and infrastructure and then they start new projects to build out schools and streets

the only way for this to "work" is like in France : defiscalisation of like 66% of the donations you make to an association or charity (only prblm is billionaires doing this to pay less taxes and make it seem like they are philanthropist)
