Oh no!!! This is soooo horrible. Also, you can order water sensors that alert to your phone when you get water wherever you put the sensor.

We had that happen and insurance covered everything. It damaged the feet on all furniture so we replaced that and we were conservative in the redo and got to make the basement look 100% better. A total pain tho

we are dealing with water in the basement right now too. our sump pump backed up during a VERY bad storm with our power out. we had about 3in of water. It absolutely sucks. we lost everything. dry wall has to be cut out, carpet, toys, baby crib, and so much more 😭. so i know what you're going through

Don’t know what you plan for the floor but just in case the water ever happens again. Do no padding and have carpet glued down. It’s the padding that gets ruined. Don’t ask how I know.
