As a Christian, you nailed it Dan. Bad argument on the apologists part.

And that's a hogwash argument, because even if the proof is undeniable, and god decided to reveal itself my free will still allows me to refuse to worship it. Sure, I would not deny its existence, but would deny its claim of being good and all loving.

The skeptic is correct, like Thomas Paine said, Christianity is a revealed religion and it wasn’t revealed to me, so I don’t believe it

Even if the evidence is “undeniable“ we still have the free will to decide whether or not we want to worship him or her or it.

It would be nice if, rather than "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son..." we had instead been given "For God so loved the world, that he gave undeniable evidence of his existence...".

I need more than campfire stories about a sandel wearing dude from thousands of years ago to believe that any god exists. Why is that so hard to understand.

If Jesus appeared before me and proved his existence, I would not instantly worship and love him. Being powerful does not mean he's worthy of worship or love. It wouldn't violate my free will at all.

Why ever would KNOWING something negate free will? Free will can only exist as an educated decision! Is it free will if I stepped into a hole I didn't see? If you don't have all the facts, isn't the one withholding that information negating your free will?

God can do whatever he wants to. he revealed himself to me in a ghostly figure of a man who claimed he was Jesus Christ. I can only be expected to believe that that was the person of the holy Ghost who called me into my purpose.

Climate change, we have proof and statistics but people have the free will to deny it. Proof of existence does not remove denial.

Apologists are never willing to entertain the flip side of this as a thought exercise, what if god revealed themselves in a way that was undeniable and said things like I never told you to condemn gay and transgender people so cut it out, billionaires can’t go to heaven, stop preaching on the street corner, stop worshipping politicians who use christianity to manipulate people, start feeding the hungry and housing the refugees, etc etc.? And the answer I usually get is an immediate thought termination such as “Well it wouldn’t be god, it would be something else” and they literally do not realise that makes them exactly the same as what they accuse skeptics of. On a slight tangent, I think a great disservice has been done by the conflation of “debate” with just saying stuff that you think at each other for an audience. Debate, as in the study of logical reasoning to form structured arguments exchanged in an adjudicated environment that centres around testing the soundness of the reasoning, is supposed to get you to think, and I feel like so much of what gets called debate now is designed for the opposite.

I like the contradiction in the statement "God doesn't provide evidence because it would defeat the purpose of faith" with the statement "there is evidence of God everywhere; just look around"

Why would the resurrected Jesus reveal himself to over “500” witnesses and refuse to do so now? These 500 were not “saved” before they saw him so why should we believe without the same standard of evidence.

The atheist is acting for a reveal that leaves no room for doubt and saying that Jesus did this when he came to earth. But when Jesus came to earth there was much room for doubt.

There are actually a lot of people who claim to have seen Jesus today. And many people believe them. Of course, many others say those are lies. However, I am surprised the woman didn't give that argument.
