STOP SHARING FAKE NEWS AND CONFUSING PEOPLE!!! The fact that the Qur’an says “wash your hands” rather than separately saying “wash every fingernail” does not mean the nails are excluded. In normal language and classical fiqh, the fingernails are part of the hand that must be washed. “Washing” an area means water must actually reach its exterior surface. A solid coating that prevents water reaching part of the required limb is therefore relevant, even though nail polish is not named individually in the Qur’an.
