The offering you saw in front of the houses is called Canang Sari 🙏🌺 It's a daily offering made by Balinese Hindus as an expression of gratitude to God and as a prayer for protection, harmony, and blessings for the family.
The Canang Sari placed at the entrance is especially meaningful because the entrance is considered the boundary between the outside world and the home. Offering it there symbolizes a prayer to maintain harmony and protect the household.
It's also worth mentioning that Canang Sari is not only placed in front of the house. We also offer it in many other places, such as the kitchen, different rooms, the family courtyard, and especially at the merajan (family shrine), where we pray every day. Each offering has its own purpose, depending on the place.
For us, preparing and offering Canang Sari is much more than a daily ritual. It's a way of expressing gratitude, honoring the Divine, and maintaining harmony with nature, our surroundings, and all living beings 🙏🌺
