It's called "glottal replacement". Languages evolve. Sometimes letters get promoted, sometimes they get laid off. The T will be okay. 😭

Not new, very common, and totally acceptable. Studied this in the early 90’s in linguistics. Look up the Alveolar Flap and the Glottal Stop.
