@kirstykaminski: Replying to @Chlo Probiotic Apple Soda 🍎✨ One of my favorite ways to turn a few simple ingredients into a naturally fizzy, probiotic-rich drink. You'll need:
🍎 1 large (or 2 small) apples, chopped (leave the peel on)
💧 4 cups (1 L) filtered, dechlorinated water
🍯 2 tbsp organic cane sugar (or 1 tbsp sugar + 1 tbsp raw honey) Instructions: 1. Add everything to a clean glass jar and stir with a non metal spoon until the sugar dissolves. 2. Cover with a clean cloth secured with a rubber band (this allows airflow while keeping insects out). 3. Leave at room temperature for 2–5 days. It's ready for bottling once you see a steady stream of small bubbles rising from the apples, tiny bubbles clinging to the fruit and the aroma has changed to pleasantly fruity, yeasty and slightly tangy. 4. Stir 3–4 times a day to keep the floating apples moist and redistribute the wild yeasts. You'll know it's fermenting when you see bubbles and light foam. 5. Strain into a pressure-rated flip-top bottle (or plastic soda bottle) and leave at room temperature for another 1–3 days to build carbonation. Make sure to open the bottle 1-2x a day to release pressure and prevent explosions. 6. Refrigerate once fizzy and enjoy chilled. A few tips:
✓ Ideally, use fresh, unwaxed apples from a local orchard or farmers market. If that's not an option, organic grocery store apples are a great alternative. Simply rinse them gently—don't peel them, as the wild yeasts naturally living on the skin help start the fermentation.
✓ If you notice fuzzy mold (not just bubbles or foam), discard the batch and start over. #probioticsoda #fermentation #guthealth

Fun fact 😁 All apples grow natural wax layer to protect the fruit from pests and to retain moisture. It’s called bloom. Store waxing is more noticeable because it’s artificial.

No wax? But how else do you trap toxic pesticides against the apples? 😏 Great recipes! Love the content. I will absolutely try this. Organic for life! 🍎
