I had no idea how to structure my thoughts when I started the 1 minute impromptu speaking challenge. I would just ramble on about everything that came to my mind about that topic. But in reality, 1 minute is only enough time to make one point. so I started using the PREP framework. It works pretty well for pretty much any topic – you can definitely make it your own after you get comfortable with it. The idea is that you pick one point, and you explain thoroughly why that point matters. This makes your speech feel purposeful rather than just a string of thoughts. you can take time to plan out your response by writing down what each part of the speech should be before you speak Point - one bias you hold (don’t try to do more) Reason - why your bias is right Explain - story, example supporting bias Point - summarize point / call to action #publicspeaking
