I got a voucher for my daughter in 2001, it was 200$ I spent it all at Walmart, they took me aside afterwards and with a large black permanent marker wrote a big black letter V on everything, even took individual socks and undies out to mark on them.

I spent over $200 without vouchers just to get my 2 kids shoes a few shirts and 2 pairs of pants. I didn't even leave my town to get them $200 worth of stuff. patrat was on some kind of power trip with his "they're using them to get cigrits" 🙄 I was scared to pull money to buy my kids shoes at shoe show last year. turns out I was right to be scared. (shoe show doesn't take clothing vouchers and the employees told me to pull the money off the card to pay for the shoes.)

I am in Logan WV and I know so many people who didn’t get them this year. It breaks my heart for the kids. I am absolutely disgusted with how they are acting towards the clothing voucher recipients. There is literally no rule stating people can’t withdraw the funds. That’s why they switched from vouchers to the card. It allowed more flexibility in where you could shop. The only problem is you can’t really use ebt cards at thrift stores or online. So Ofcourse parents withdraw from the card and put it in their bank accounts or just spend cash at different retailers. I think they are just trying to redirect attention away from their funding problems towards actual recipients.. like no the problem isn’t that we ran out of funds because of all the cuts.. it’s that people are pulling the cash off to buy d*ugs so we stopped the application process 🙄🙄 GTFOH it’s a classic tactic the government likes to use though…demonizing people that receive public assistance. The sad thing is, it actually works with a lot of our population. Most don’t actually research for themselves and just read headlines.
