to be honest, he dresses safe. if you wear something flamboyant or expressive as a man youre sacrificing mass appeal. that being said, i think people should see the obvious double bind. you think he dresses bad because he dresses safe, but people would also think he dresses bad if he didn't

I think people also confuse good styling with good-looking people. A lot of outfits become ‘fashion’ because of who’s wearing them.

In this same vein i think that the glorification of the "old money" aesthetic has a really weird way of ignoring the mediocrity of the style. Sure, these outfits look nice if they're well-fitting, but they are generally basic and impersonal. So i think it implicitly emphasizes value on wealth and status above actual expression and individuality, being the antithesis of fashion. It all just feeds back into patriarchal capitalism

I think there’s a lot of nuance missed here, and ion wanna die on a hill for a white man but Jacob Elordi doesn’t have an instagram. So him being this idk “sehx figure”while maintaining an allure of privacy elevates his captured photos because they’re truly just candid paparazzi photos. The guy is also a bottega ambassador, its not that he’s the most stylish person say its just in his day to day he is stylish. And the subtleties of his outfits cant be replicated by a moodboard. He’s not taking fit pics he’s existing, and the aspiration isn’t dressing in that style its being him, which they cant be but i agree

My Roman Empire is how the men's fashion industry took a massive hit due to how straight people reacted to the AIDS epidemic. Straight men stopped dressing flamboyantly due to the fear of looking "gay" and the stigma that comes with that.

That person saying women prefer guys in basic outfits is so wrong 😭😭😭 I’m also so sick of all women being seen as a monolith. Some women like more feminine men, some like masculine men, some don’t like men at all. I personally prefer men who are more stylish and step out of the norm. I need all this conversation of “what women truly want” to STOOOP.

Sometimes I feel like the problem with what most people consider “experimental” outfits is that they aren’t very wearable day to day. That pic your showed of Max is a nice outfit but where would you wear that besides a fit pic? Even that pic next to wisdom isn’t the most craziest fit in the world, he unbuttons his shirt a bit? I agree Jacob Elordis style is super popular because the bar is so low but it’s also something very wearable. Most of those pics you showed are him going to get groceries, go for a walk, get coffee, daily tasks that fill most people’s day. I would love to know any people who dress in a way that is both experimental but something can be worn everyday.
