This is not true. In the official cannon they haven't explained it. But is seems to be for jedi or force user with a pragmatic morality. More of a grey jedi, or someone who believes the ends justify the means. Someone who hasn't fallen to the dark side, but balances light and dark side.

It doesn’t explain how either of them found crystals that were purified, only to “partially” bleed them again when in current canon, Ahsoka and Luke are the only known force users to have purified red crystals. There’s nothing in the current Disney canonical universe to support this explanation. I think what they did was bleed their own crystals, but not all the way. Like maybe when sith do it, they just keep going when they get to orange, which supports the idea that they aren’t evil enough to get to red. If you ask me, this whole plot line is the weakest Star Wars has ever written.
