@jac_of_all_traumas: Apparently it’s a condo property now and they charge $2,900 a month to rent less than 1000 square feet! #torontorealestate #donmills #rant
Even in the last few years housing has become ridiculous. We built a 7 bdrm home in Calgary for 525k in 2019. It was just appraised for 1.4 million. We would never pay that much for this house, no way.

My friends parents bought their house in 1973 for $27,000 and she sold it in 2021 for $750,000. We will NEVER see a return like that IF we can even afford to buy a house

Get out! I grew up at Burbank and Sheppard area. I had friends who lived in those townhouses in the add too. Small world! Our childhood home sold for a crazy amount back in 88 now it’s up for almost 4 million! Housing is absolutely insane now.

I paid $400 inclusive for my first apartment in 1994. It was listed last year for $1600. That's a 4.5% increase yearly. The average rate of inflation in Canada for the same period was 2.1%.
They are squeezing blood from stones.

My mom used to make $2 an hour in 1974 at a factory as a young teenage woman with a full time job. Imagine paying for mortgage, bills, food, gas on $2 an hour lol

This is why I wish my parents had bought a house. They would have cashed in or had something to pass down to my sister and I 🤔 They stayed in the same apartment for over 50 yrs and when they pass, they’ll have had nothing to add to their legacy 😶

The banking system is lending money into assets that are unproductive that’s why economies are dying because there’s no investment in production only into assets that are questionably valued way beyond their actual replacement value! Housing scarcity serves the banking system to push up rents and asking prices so that their loans look safer and new loans are larger which is a growth in income they show on their balance sheets! When did all crumbs crashing down? The banks are screwed this is why governments have to support them with taxpayer money despite the fact that the banking system is at 180° to where humanity should be going…
