For a general rule of thumb, anything with a matte effect is usually silicone-based, whereas anything with a dewy effect is mostly likely water-based. But matching like with like is a myth. Foundation is usually designed with both ingredients so that way it can be used with either type of product (silicone or water). If you product is separating on your face try: mixing or shaking it, moisturizing skincare beforehand, don’t rush applying your makeup steps, check its expiration, and/or try applying less heavy-handed.

I haven’t been able to find a foundation that works for me yet. I have naturally oily skin. The silicone makes the oil worse in my opinion, and a water base usually starts separating on my skin a few hours after I put it on. Any recommendations?

Nyx discontinued their 24hr cant stop wont stop and I am still struggling to this day to find a good affordable replacement 😭😭😭 its the only foundation ive ever had that felt good on my skin and had my exact shade
