Somewhere on the Transfăgărășan, Mama Bear has appointed herself headmistress of the Carpathians, marching two unruly pupils across the asphalt with the solemn authority of a duchess and the patience of someone who has already confiscated three phones before breakfast. Traffic stops. Tourists gasp. The cubs dawdle. Naturally, nobody argues with the crossing guard. Romania’s most flamboyant mountain road twists through the Făgăraș Mountains like a ribbon dropped by a tipsy cartographer. Drivers come for the hairpins, the precipices, and the grand alpine theatre, only to discover that the day’s main attraction has paws. No zebra stripes here, just actual bears conducting an unscheduled lesson in road etiquette, hierarchy, and why honking is sometimes an exceptionally poor life choice. There is something deliciously humbling about watching civilization queue politely while the wilderness takes its children to school.
